The immediate verse below is a marvelously written passage from Hebrews, one of my favorite books alongside John. It summarizes the Christian experience beautifully, concentrating on Jesus, as was John, the love book. It is in Hebrews where we read the definition of faith as the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. I like one translation that renders assurance as "evidence". I am in love with expanding faith. Sunday Aug 15, 2021
Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the Cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2
"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed." I Peter 2:24
